I have left New York for Miami Beach, next stop the world! With a passion for new people, new places, food and everything in between I want to document my new life as an explorer both in my backyard and abroad. While rating them with my sarcastic humor and quick wit, I hope you will come along and enjoy this journey with me…

Netto Bar Curaçao - Home of the world famous Ròm Bèrdè

The latest bars, clubs, vacation destinations and hot spots always seem to get peoples’ blood flowing. Whether traveling or at home, there is something about the venue/event being “NEW” and unexplored that people associate with being better or elite. I agree a good restaurant opening or club premiere can get the adrenaline pumping, but it’s the old ones…the hidden treasures that have been around for decades that get me going.

On my recent trip to Curaçao I had the pleasure of tasting the world famous Ròm Bèrdè (Green Rum) at Netto Bar. This place has been around since 1954 and may be one of the most comical places I’ve ever been (unintentionally of course). The bar shows its age with an overload of memorabilia that adorns the walls, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The hundreds of worn pictures and t-shirts representing past visitors makes you feel like you’re a part of something rather than just taking shot at another bar. You feel like you’re a part of history in some weird way. The bartender (shown below) isn’t Mr. Personality and an older woman in the corner seemed to get less and less amused by me as the shots continuedthat of course did not stop me from talking to her. The Ròm Bèrdè tastes like Nyquil but ultimately did the trick and can be crossed off the list of things I’ve tried in my life. On my next trip to Curaçao I’ll be sure to visit Netto Bar and my new best friend in the corner. I highly recommend you do the same…Enjoy!!

Loving Willemstad, Curaçao! I wanted to kick this kid as she ran through my picture until I saw how great it came out. Needless to say all was forgiven!!
