The hotel offers two ballrooms:  the 16,000-square-foot Regency Ballroom, which is able to accommodate over 1,600 guests for a reception and more than 1,300 for a banquet, and the 9,860-square-foot Port of Spain Ballroom, which has the capacity to accommodate 1,000 guests for a reception or 630 for a banquet.  Both ballrooms offer spacious pre-function areas that can be used for greeting guests and cocktail receptions.  Smaller groups can celebrate in the Jade, Ruby, Topaz, Diamond and Sapphire Rooms.

The culinary team will design customized menus with international cuisine and local flavors such as West Indian Pumpkin Soup with Traditional Spices and Coconut Milk, and Seared Catch of the Day on Roasted Carrots, Saffron Cream and Mashed Potatoes.  They can also create Caribbean specialty stations featuring Bake and Shark, a Trinidad favorite of lightly fried bread with deep-fried shark and local condiments, and Roti, a traditional East Indian delicacy, featuring Paratha and Dhalpourie served with assorted Indian-style fillings and accompanied by rice and chutney.

Each wedding package offered by the hotel includes complimentary deluxe bay view overnight accommodations for the bride and groom, in-room champagne and chocolate-covered strawberries, a professional banquet captain for the special day, a champagne or wine toast and much more.

The bridal party can enjoy pampering for the special day together in the hotel’s Spa Esencia. The special bridal package can be customized to include make-up applications, manicures, pedicures, facials and a spa lunch.

Netto Bar Curaçao - Home of the world famous Ròm Bèrdè

The latest bars, clubs, vacation destinations and hot spots always seem to get peoples’ blood flowing. Whether traveling or at home, there is something about the venue/event being “NEW” and unexplored that people associate with being better or elite. I agree a good restaurant opening or club premiere can get the adrenaline pumping, but it’s the old ones…the hidden treasures that have been around for decades that get me going.

On my recent trip to Curaçao I had the pleasure of tasting the world famous Ròm Bèrdè (Green Rum) at Netto Bar. This place has been around since 1954 and may be one of the most comical places I’ve ever been (unintentionally of course). The bar shows its age with an overload of memorabilia that adorns the walls, but I wouldn’t have changed a thing. The hundreds of worn pictures and t-shirts representing past visitors makes you feel like you’re a part of something rather than just taking shot at another bar. You feel like you’re a part of history in some weird way. The bartender (shown below) isn’t Mr. Personality and an older woman in the corner seemed to get less and less amused by me as the shots continuedthat of course did not stop me from talking to her. The Ròm Bèrdè tastes like Nyquil but ultimately did the trick and can be crossed off the list of things I’ve tried in my life. On my next trip to Curaçao I’ll be sure to visit Netto Bar and my new best friend in the corner. I highly recommend you do the same…Enjoy!!
